The Stud History"Mountain Poll Herefords" was founded in 1989 with the purchase of females from "Heatherdale", "Allendale", "Bidgee", "The Anchorage", "Hylean", "Eka" and "Boohan". Founding Sires were "Hylean Kingpin J55", "Hylean Supreme Quester", "Mountain Ace", "Mountain Maxim" and "Doonbiddie James Bond". AI Sires: "Broxton Great Southern", "BT Butler", "Davis the Wizard", "Ascendant Y26", "BT Domino" and "WTK 55Y Bond 75A". In October 1999 the opportunity arose to acquire the entire "Womboyne Stud" as an ongoing operation and has since been amalgamated with the "Mountain" Herd under the banner "MNT Womboyne". The "Womboyne" herd represents a 25 year commitment by the late John Halstrom to breed the very best. He was one of the first cattlemen in Australia to use EBV’s as part of his breeding program. Nearly a million dollars was invested in purchasing the best genetics available in the world today, with a procession of big money bulls ($60,000 - $80,000) were added along with the importation of over 25 head from the Felton ranch in Missouri. The Stud TodayThe stud today has outgrown its self with 430 registered females out of which 150 are active. The rest are the nucleus off an outstanding commercial herd. Our stud has to run under the same conditions as the commercial herd with no grain feeding on our herd bulls which enables us to sell sound bulls at realistic prices. Bulls presently in use are "Neridah Transcontinental", "Allendale Musketeer", "Eagle Ridge 4J", "Banchie 46L", "Emu Holes Peron", "Merriwah Monsoon", "Allendale Octagonal", "Kenevel Rimfire", "Bellco Baker V21" along with three "Musketeer" sons "Big Butt", "Style" and "Stevadore".
